Who does the Association of Free Migration Agents assist?
Any person in NSW who is financially disadvantaged (before receiving advice from our centre you will be asked to provide some information regarding your financial status) and is an applicant, sponsor or proposer for an Australian refugee or humanitarian visa.
We currently cannot take cases from individuals who are outside of NSW.
What can the Association of Free Migration Agents help me with?
AFFMA can assist through face-to-face discussions or over the phone, and help you get a better understanding of the processes for applying for a protection visa. Lawyers and migration agents will work with you closely to build your case to reach success. They may need to complete some documents that detail your story and what you aim to achieve, so we respectfully ask for your patience when working with our legal team.
What do I need to bring to the initial interview?
Before arriving to your booked interview, we strongly suggest that you do your best to collect hard copies of all the documents listed below. If you are not able to of gather some of these documents, such as identification documents, please tell the lawyer so that they may arrange a suitable solution for you.
Are there language interpreters available at the time of my interview?
Yes. When you book an interview with AFFMA you can request an interpreter to assist you during your interview. Important documents such as initial client enquiry forms are also available in a range of languages including Arabic, Chinese, Tagalog and Tamil.
What happens if a lawyer tells me my case is unlikely to succeed?
Due to the large influx of client inquiries, ongoing assistance and representation will be considered against our guidelines on a case by case basis. If an AFFMA lawyer or migration agent tells you that your case will be unlikely to succeed, you may request to continue using AFFMA services, however AFFMA will not be held accountable for any damages as a consequence of any advice or assistance given.
How much will it cost to use AFFMA service?
AFFMA does not charge any legal fees in relation to your case. However, you will be invoiced for a disbursement fee (including the cost of lodging your application) is $275.
